/500 days of summer
plot:
one guy believes she (summer) is the One for him
the girl just takes life as it comes, doesn't want the boundaries of a commitment/relationship, free spirit
the beginning, honeymoon and good period, and eventual break up
he suffers. she wants to be friends if possible. she happens to meet someone, and ends up being happily married.
he pursues being an architect finally (instead of the dead end job of writing greeting cards) and the beginning of a possible new relationship begins
messages:
happenings in life (including love) are coincidences, but you have to make opportunities happen
can't beat the dark hair, big blue eyes of summer (zooey deschanel)
joseph gordon-levitt is kinda cute, but can see remnants of being a kid actor. supposed to be a decent singer and dancer, and you see that a bit in the movie. still not ultimately my 'type.'
glad i watched it. but wouldn't really watch it again.
dvd from living room...
A's 2nd viewing.

I've Loved You For So Long, 2008
I don't think I'll actually remember that title.
But Kristin Scott Thomas (Juliette) is excellent.
The plot slowly unfolds. Was in prison. For murder. Michel taught in prison after wife's death. Parents brainwashed (Lea) and they pretended she never existed. She was a physician. Pierre was son's name. He had a rare awful disease. She went to the Green house with him one last time. And she gave him a lethal injection. Her husband divorced her before this, or after?
The death of one's child is the worst prison.

"Measure for Measure"
by the Rude Mechanicals
St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in College Park
$15
a comedy? of sorts. more like a drama without everyone keeling over at the end.
went with Q, Carrie, @. as her friend (Amy Davis)was directing and acting (with new hubby Christopher Davis).
setting: Vienna
Duke supposedly out on vacation, and in his stead a police officer type Angelo. Angelo is strict, by the book. Sentences Claudio for having for impregnating his fiance. Claudio enlists his sister Isabella's help to plead his case. Isabella is training to be a nun. Angelo falls for Isabella, or at least in a way that he wants her to sleep with him. She's torn. Duke in disguise as nun sets up this convoluted expose that had me confused in the end. Angelo was previously betrothed? but he was disengaged after her family became less rich? She was still pining for him. And so the Duke had her stand in Isabella's stead for a middle of the night tryst. But it still didn't work? Claudio was still condemned, but then they just had someone else beheaded in his place.
Not greatly acted, esp Angelo. The Can Can was pretty funny, esp with bouncing bosoms- eek.
