alex and emma, ?recent

acting's pretty bad - just stale, scripted; but maybe that was intentional. to go along with the gatsby-esque thing.
cuban mafia? has to write a book - and his uncle will magically pay for it (and how did the uncle read it in less than a day?). silly.

setting - boston; nice to see the landmarks, interesting the spots in the city movies deem important enough to film (boston commons, duck tour, etc)

alex = luke wilson; of the bros good-looking
emma = kate hudson; she's okay - fair-skinned, nothing spectacular in performance

ending - is good, and i think that's one of ab's criteria
story has him not ending with either paulina or anna. paulina still needed money, and would marry for it. he ditched anna to pursue paulina.
and he finished the story before the relationships resolved. so the real paulina shows up. emma busts her butt to finish typing up the book so alex won't be killed by the cuban mafia. alex and paulina talk across the street, and is seen by emma; introduced as stenographer.
don't know what hurts more - knowing the details about your love for another woman, or knowing that you'll never care for me that deeply
emma's super upset, and does a really good job at being consistent with sticking to her guns
then he arranges a set-up similar to how they met. and he "finishes" the story -- with the end being that his love for her was felt more than anything he could invent.

so started watching movie when eating apple pancakes with ab; then watched the rest while not wanting to commit to a whole movie, wanted to finish it; and it was hanging out in the apt anyway

rating - would not be interested in watching again
