Bollywood/Hollywood (1992)

Sue (Lisa Ray). escort.
Raju. upper middle class. eldest son.

set in Toronto.
Opening scene of Raju's father dying, father saying something about sports and family role. 10 years later- Raju's white Hollywood girlfriend dies in a freak accident. He hires Sue to play his fiance in order for his sister to get married. He thought she was Spanish, but she's Indian [in reality half Bengali, half Polish]. Sue is a hit with the mother, grandmother (decked in all white; widow), younger brother Govind who was teased in school. Some guy accuses her of having slept with him. Raju doesn't know what to believe. Goes back and wins her over- father mechanic, film lover and mother nice.

Trust who you love.
Some dance/song numbers, but nothing too amazing.
Deepa Mehta film.
Lisa Ray was really pretty. [! no wonder. she was in water, which was really good...]
kind of a weak movie plot and acting wise. But nice Fri fluff. Glad we watched it.

watched with @ on instaplay. Fri night. with leftover Mexican food and fresh dahl.
